Dedicated lines in ABQ
This info may be of help: I just asked my neighbor, who owns a small hot tub sales and installation company, if he would be interested in installing two lines in my place. He told me summer is his busy season, but that if I could wait until winter...
Isoacoustics Gaia Speaker Footers
J. Bevier---Guitar Center is an IsoAcoustic dealer. Will the GAIA and Iso-Puck be available from them? Has the Iso-Puck started shipping yet?
Isolation feet/cones for PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
ghosthouse---Yup, the stiffness of cables coming from the back of components (especially lightweight ones) is a concern. A stiff power cord contacting a shelf can certainly "foul" the suspension, short-circuiting the isolation properties of any fo...
Speaker Isolation -- Experience with Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
cal, each individual Pod is bolted or screwed onto a flat disc, for stability of the Pod itself. The Pods that come with the Isolation "Bar" are bolted onto that Bar, via holes in the top of the Pod. I'm assuming the Pod with bolt holes may be ord...
Townshend Elite Rock Mk III / Rega RB300 tonearm question
I had one of the Rock/Rega arm boards with the arm height adjustment thumbwheel, which was in fact made by Townshend. I sold it on Audiogon in 2015, I believe it was, when I replaced my Cardas-rewired RB300 with a nice Zeta. A really cool thing fo...
Townshend Elite Rock Mk III / Rega RB300 tonearm question
I'm a Rock owner (though of the Mk.2 "Elite"), but didn't know Max was offering a customized RB300 back then. More recently, he took the 300 and performed some radical surgery on it, installing the damping trough outrigger in place of the Rega hea...
Isolation feet/cones for PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
Yup ghosthouse, Geoff already stated the case---it’s a matter of friction. The plastic of the caster cups isn’t smooth (on the microscopic level of the vibrations we are talking about) or hard enough to provide a friction-free surface for the ball...
Isolation feet/cones for PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
The rubber caster cups ghosthouse suggested are too soft, but a cheap alternative is available---chrome nickel plated, bowl shaped, drawer pulls. Screw each onto a little block of mdf or plywood, or a trio onto a small sheet of same.
Eminent Technology LFT-8b in Harry's system
Wow, a new pair of LFT-6’s! I’m gonna look into that.Bruce includes a chart of the LFT-8’s impedance curve in both the owners manual and on the ET site, and the inductance of the dynamic woofer does cause an impedance dip. But the panels themselve...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Fantastic Nick Lowe song, reubent. He has a bunch of 'em! Los Straitjackets have a new album entitled What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Los Straitjackets. The entire album is they performing Nick Lowe songs. LS have been serving as Nick's tou...
WHAT HAS WORKED FOR YOU? ISOLATION PLATFORMS, FOOTERS, ETC. for a DAC?
For a little better version of a roller bearing design than the Symposium (fine as it is), check out those of Ingress Engineering in Canada. Machined to Barry Diament’s specs. Cheaper too.
What are some of the downsides of owning a Magneplanar .7 or 1.7i ?
All speaker design are compromises. Every listener has to realize his priorities in the sound of reproduced music, and then find products that have been compromised to achieve those same priorities at a given price point.Panel speakers like Maggie...
Isolation feet/cones for PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
There is a machinist in Canada making roller bearings very much to Barry Diament's specs---Ingress Engineering. For design details and ordering info, go to the company's website.

Dick Olsher and Art Dudley, my two favorite contemporary reviewers.Speaking of U.S.A. designers and builders of "affordable" electronics, beside the great Mike Sanders of Quicksilver, let’s not forget Ralph Karsten of Atma-Sphere and Roger Modjesk...
Eminent Technology LFT-8b in Harry's system
kot, I tried for quite a while to find a pair of the LFT-6’s, but never did. I had to settle for the LFT-4, which it's sort of a half-size version of the 6. It’s great for smaller rooms, as long as one has the usual distance from the wall behind t...
