dcs puccini, chord red ref, meitner cdsa or nagra
The Playback Designs player looks like one of the vintage VCR players from the early 80's. Maybe it is different in person, but it does look cheap. I can't believe they would make something that expensive that ugly.
dcs puccini, chord red ref, meitner cdsa or nagra
I am not sure about this new Playback Designs player. Seems as if one review (which may or may not be planted) is sturring the pot. What I do know is that it could easily be the ugliest player out there. So if you listen with the lights off and sh...

I just don't get PC Audio
Thank you all for posting, there is a significant amount of valuable advise and information in this thread. It truly does seem like PC audio will be the future, but for now I will wait for all the details to get ironed out and especially high rez....
I just don't get PC Audio
Thanks again all. I am still at the only benefit is convenience (albeit there is a lot to be said for that). I disagree with the poster that says a Benchmark will give me great performance.....I have heard/owned that DAC...it is good for the money...
I just don't get PC Audio
Thank you all for your responses. I actually am somewhat savvy with computers....set up my own home network which is both wired and wireless...am fluent in ipod technology....so please don't view me as petrified of computers. I honestly just weigh...
I just don't get PC Audio
Hi S7HortonThank you for partaking in my post. I totally agree about the portability factor. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of just sitting in my living room type of listenting. I am definitely open to PC audio, I almost went for it. ...
looking for new speakers $2 to $3K
I second the Proac Studio 140s, they have incredible imaging, detail and transparency of the best monitors with real world bass down to 25hz.
What is under $5k speaker with best bass slam?
you may seriously want to consider Proac Studio 140
How do I spend $5000? A CD player or DAC for my De
I find it ridiculous the whole idea about spending $3500 for a media server. I have never had a computer last for more than 5 years. If you are dumping this amount of money into something that has a limited life-span it seems ridiculous. At least ...
worthy competitors of the amr 77
Anyone who wants to respond to this thread only needs to read MrTennis's other posts. There is no answer to his question. He wants his player to sound like it has a sheet over the speakers. Which sounds like the only possible solution for him.
Shootout: AMR CD-77 vs. AR CD7 vs. Wadia 581se
I was excited to read your comments until I realized that you compared three enticing cd players on two totally and polarizing systems..... I guess it is hard for me to make any sense of the review as the Wadia had the deck stacked against it with...
Audiomat Maestro v Audio Aero Prima SE DAC
I have heard of Audiomat.....not heard the products but honestly the maker/importer/fruitcake is enough to scare me in any other direction, even out of audio if that was the only other option. Just my 2 cents.
Krell Service
Update:My KAV280CD has been at Krell for 8 WEEKS!! Still they have not even looked at it and when I respond to the emails for updates I get snotty remarks back. This is an all-time low.....perhaps it does not surpass the all-time low of Audible Il...
Spendor S9e or ProAc Response D28
Pubul57, have you owned the D28s? Well I do, and they go an honest 20hz. Not sure what you are basing your comment on. Give me a break about Harbeth.....they do an honest 80hz at best and Sonus Fabers have been relegated to big box stores.
