Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
remember a member here have good tt and tonearm. uses Lyra sounds horrible .. Ops it's the phonostage. I had similar hilarious experiences like that as well.. so..the tt also imparts a certain coloration as the tonearm do.. as nuetral as they can...
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
above all is synergy. tt and whole system. sometimes 'super and expensive " does not equal to better. but that's just me. expensive stuff need more care and level of quality of whole system. for instance. there is much more than just the cart, ton...
Turntable versus tonearm versus cartridge: which is MOST important?
in my opinionmost important tonearm more than the cart. especially the case for MCTT is quite subjective... can works both way. also depending on the type of plinth. isolation. type of drive. so don't really have an opinion.

why do people think the LINN LP 12 is so superior to the Thorens (say 165 super)
linn is musical, quiet and well behaved. more less lifely side.. think Roger speaker.thorens is even more spice, musical and grunt. less neat sounding..acquired taste really.

thicker microfibers cloth for spectacles usually called premium grades and quite cheap. can add a foam. behind and can buy a bunch. works fine.
MM Cartridge Recommendation
I think it's more different with the low gain coil than direct cartridge coupling. it will pull out more low level detail and bigger size  sound + stage. clarity and energy much better as well. its painful to burn in the cables and cart though to ...

My battle with sibilance.
Mc low gain  is always much longer settling time. even just changing the stylus only.and the cable burn in etc is much more difficult due to low gain. also if it's hot sounding.. check the capacitance and loading make sure it's in range. nothing t...
