Speakers for Electronic Music?

Here's what I'm looking for:

1) Budget = ~$2k
2) Electronic music, specifically ambient (50%), IDM (25%), psychill (25%)
3) Speaker type = preferably a pair of loudspeakers

If you care to opine about a good amp to go with it (budget = ~$1k), please do. Most of the music will be coming in from a PC, so an amp with a nice DAC would be a plus.

Yes, a Class D amp will work well; fast, loud and to quote Mapman "articulate."

"Since the majority of modern era electronic is well recorded...a neutral, detail based speaker with an exceptional, fast, transparent tweeter would be my choice...dynaudio, revel, b & w, etc...."

Agree, but it would be wise to audition some speakers. Depending on your front end, some of the current crop of speakers with metal tweeters will be very fatiguing and have bright sounding highs with techno/electronic. Just have to find the right synergy between components.
A pair of pro PA speakers like used passive Mackies, a powered pro Mackie 18" sub, and a QSC power amp...for 2 grand easily (used in good shape). You can dance all night.
Thanks for the responses, everyone. Most of the responses seemed oriented around reproducing a club. I think I'm looking for speakers with a wide soundstage since the majority of my electronic music is subtle ambient/space.

Also, what if we changed the third criteria to bookshelf speakers hooked up to a Marantz SR5007 or similar?
I retract my suggestion. I'm part of the "good speakers can play ANY type of music well" school of thought...and will argue this point ad nauseum. I also have a tiny disco ball in my listening room.
I'm with wolf_garcia. I'd look for the best full range speaker in your price range that will work with your amp. Used legacys in that range would work well.
