Vertical placement of instruments....crazy

I am auditioning new interconnects. Though I like the sound, the vertical placement of the instruments and vocal is now all over the place. With my previous interconnects, music typically stayed around 6" above my speakers. With these new ones, I am hearing vocals 3ft above the speakers and instruments anywhere from speaker height to just below the ceiling! First of all, how can an interconnect have such an impact on the vertical placement of the sound? Second, how do I address this to make the soundstage more uniform in height and thus more realistic sounding? I have tried messing around with speaker placement but no luck.

The new interconnects are passing more high frequency information. Don't like it? Go back to the old interconnects if you prefer a smaller sound.

Thats what I needed to know. Just wanted an explanation of why this was happening.
Is it only when you have your Bruin slippers on !!!!!!! V fight on !!!!! Couldn't resist !

Well played my friend! You think Kiffin will survive past this year???
Rrog is correct that image dispersion along the vertical axis is sensitive to high frequency information. In fact see my posts dated 5-3-13 in this thread.

However, based on the photos in your system description it appears that you are probably referring to a short length of XLR interconnect used between the DAC and the integrated amplifier. If so, I find it hard to believe that it would have such profound effects on vertical image dispersion. Therefore I suspect that Mofi's theory is correct.

Perhaps one of the two XLR cables has pin 2 at one end connected to pin 3 at the other end, and vice versa, which would put the two channels out of phase with each other, instead of having pin 2 connected to pin 2, and pin 3 connected to pin 3. You can check that with a multimeter.

Tough question. It will be difficult, everyone is spoiled from the Carol years, 9-3 is now bad!!!! I would like to see the program off sanctions before I judge his performance! His neck is definitely in the yoke !!!!!
I'm glad a quality coach is in Westwood now, I enjoy a good rivalry win or, shudder, lose !!!!!!!
BTW what are your speakers resting on?
