Is anyone still using a CD Player

Still spending money on hardware. I bought a Marantz SACD-10 a while back with complete satisfaction. Streaming does not compensate artists. 

Several years ago I bought a streamer with storage and was in the same dilemma as you.   I sold off some CDs I had but kept everything I felt was essential since most of them would not get much if selling.  Now I find myself listening to CDs again and I even upgraded my CD player because I enjoy them a lot.  I think streaming is rather soul-less.  I need something tangible.  Vinyl is the best for this but sometimes I just want to play CDs, especially when I don't have the music on vinyl.  I'm a collector of the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan.  Many of their releases are not fully available on vinyl, so CD format is the best for those releases.  I know I could rip my CDs to my server but listening to them is not the same as silver disc.  CDs are also very cheap now, and sometimes free.  I'm not planning to go full bore back into CDs, but I find that they sound great on the right player and there are enough titles not released on vinyl that the medium is not yet dead.   

Typically when one format pulls you back it is because the sound quality in an important way is missing on the new format. So, typically the playback device is missing the natural or organic sound. Streaming was like that until I upgraded my streamer and DAC. Now my streamer sounds as good or better than my turntable and CDs. The draw is gone.

I'm not using one now, but I will buy the first Audio Research CD9 that comes available on the used market.
