The Billy Joel Interview

Went to my first BJ concert in college in upstate NY.  He was in his twenties and at the time a regular upstart musician with genius talent  I encourage for people to stay away from the hits and listen to his first five albums which are filled with incredible music.

RICK does great interviews.

I absolutely LOVED this interview.  He shows his talent, he shows he’s still down to earth, and he shows his song building experiences. For anyone out there that has  musician friends, you know the struggle is real.  He has amazing talent.  I like how he talked about a record producer wanted to use Elton John's band; Elton is another musical genius but the British way of thinking doesn't work here, especially from a New York boy.  And in all honesty foks; how many people in the USA are producing and writing their own music?  

I never followed Billy Joel in any real way--never bought his recordings or saw him play live. But there's no mistaking the fact that he's one of the great song writers of his generation. Exactly the same words for Elton John. These guys crushed it composing pop tunes, absolutely crushed it.

Just because neither one is 100% to my personal listening taste means very little compared to that fact. 

I'm a follower of Rick Beato's channel and he does great interviews because he's all about the music and not the other stuff. I enjoyed the BJ interview even though I'm not a huge fan of BJ's music but I definitely respect him as an artist. I was a bit amused that BJ was vaping and the video editor did their best to hide it.
