Wilsons new flagship

Maybe I am getting old but Wilsons new flagship $780k  and they feel it is justified,

lit gets better if you want custom paint $110,000 they said it takes 2 days to paint both speakers, Jays audio lab commented and I think it was way too much and

$110k for $300 in paint is nuts that is truly taking advantage of everyone with wealth, imo only an idiot would pay that. I guess nothing should surprise me any more !!

@skinzy exactly. I don't care how Wilson prices their new speakers-if they were $300k cheaper it would still be irrelevant to me. If someone chooses to buy them, its not my business. Its not illegal or immoral and its their money. I also don't know the motivation for making such a purchase, but a lot of people seem to be able to read the minds of people they have never met. If I had to guess, I would guess that the folks who buy those speakers don't give a damn about what we think of their choice in loudspeakers.

Obviously, you’re not in the Mercedes Benz G Wagon Carlex atelier space.  525K-625K.

Not in the practice of lecturing those for their capital expenditure choices.  However, it does strain one’s sensibilities to believe that with so much capital, one has no more imagination than that.  There are plenty leading the way by investing in scholarships, parks, hospitals, libraries or any number of worthwhile causes.

Love Kevin ‘Mr. Wonderful’, but must admit to checking out when he flashes his latest watch acquisition 225K.

I believe in international travel broadening the human experience, so have purchased more than my share of airline tickets and paid wholly for others’ travel, domestically and overseas.  My efforts certainly pail in comparison to others, but understand it to not be a competition.  I’ve enough.

@audioman58

HOLD ON, pardner.

I think you added an extra "0" to the cost of a custom paint job. I saw an additional price of 12 -15k for custom colors for this speaker.

I knew Dave Wilson before he was DAVE WILSON!!! And Dave, while expensive, never gouged for paint or repair (One of my original WATTS fell, and had to be repaired). It wasn’t  horribly expensive to repair and paint, even in 1988. I can’t imagine Darryl or Sheryl asking a customer for an additional $100k for a paint job...

You sure your glasses are working ok? 🥸
