Sound quality wise, Qobuz via Apple car play sounds better than Amazon Music in my cars, sounds better than connecting via Bluetooth. If AI is right, might be wrong… Apple or Android CarPlay have a separate WiFi antenna that does transmit higher res, supports other res which yields better results than BT. Sirius, in any of my cars it’s never sounded all that good, I prefer HD radio over it any day. If Sound Quality is what you are after, Qobuz via car play hands down, YMMV, that’s my experience

Sirius sounds terrible imho. Whatever compression scheme they use reminds me of ancient low bitrate mp3 files. It's fine for talk radio (yuck) or podcast style programs but a non-starter for music in my opinion. I would take any version of Qobuz (or Tidal, or Apple Music) over Sirius. Even the worst connection which would be lossy Bluetooth should still be superior. Apple Carplay or Android Audio is another step up even when using a wireless version (it uses wifi instead of lossy bluetooth to send the signal). Using a cable to an aux jack is good too, again much better than Sirius. Obviously the convenience factor is important. Carplay and Android Audio do a great job I think. So use one of those if you can. |
@curiousjim , I hear you brother. I have friends that like talk radio and Sirius is their go to. My fix is English and San Francisco era classic rock, hence Tidal and Qbuz. Some of the comedy stuff is great I just don’t go to it. I like Ron White but profanitie offends my wife. The other guy from that group never swears and he’s hilarious. I have a headphone rig in my nightstand comprised of leftovers from my main stereo. I tend to stream Radio Paradise and WWW.1.FM channels. I’ve never tried those in the car but they’re free. FWIT I have AT&T mobile and it sucks here, I need to switch to Verizon. Regards, Mike B. |
