JPlay App

I just tried the new JPLAY app that I read about on 6moons. It’s clearly sounds better than Roon in my system. Looks like I’ll be using it from now on. Free 14 day trial, give it a shot.

Just noticed this thread. I’ve been commenting about jPlay for iOS on a Roon thread.

A couple of years ago, I tried jPlay. I liked the sound quality. However, I was put off by it not being gapless with my streamer.

After several years as a Roon user, I recently moved back to UPnP because I wasn’t at all happy with its sound quality. Inspired by @audphile1 and thinking there was a workaround to make it gapless, I tried jPlay out again a few days ago.

The gapless workaround didn’t work out, but I was so blown away by the sound quality that I have decided to go with jPlay anyway.

@tksteingraber I agree with your assessment on sound quality differences.

@newton_john jplay inserts a slight bit of silence with my Meitner dac as well with gapless. Not a deal breaker for me either.

2 weeks free and $50/year is a no brainer but the effort to evaluate?

So is there a good reason I should try JPLAY rather than Qobuz Connect?

Player is Lumin T3X using optical fiber, no local files, streaming only from Qobuz (Connect) and SXM Radio (AirPlay).

Not loving the Lumin app but don't really care. Zero issues with Qobuz Connect.

Thanks guys!

@macg19 two weeks trial with jplay. You can compare it to Qobuz Connect and determine for yourself what sounds better. Both options blow away Lumin UI.
To my ears Q C sounds more direct and flatter. Jplay is more refined and has better depth.

No pain no gain.
