Soulnote D1 v2 DAC upgrade.... compared to Holo Audio Spring 2 Kitsune

Hello fellow obsessives, 

 

I am thinking of taking the plunge in the Soulnote D1 dac. It's qualities I hope will tip my system toward the exuberance I yearn for... the energy and the openness... currently its sublime but somewhat... subdued... exalted and gorgeous, but somehow lacking the energy I desire....

What do you all think of the Soulnote D1 DAC, as an upgrade from a Holo Audio Spring 2 ladder R2R? 

And... should I keep my Holo Audio DAC for my second system (currently served by a Musical Paradise DAC)? Or should I actually learn to let go of these things and sell it to a online store for 1K?

My system is as follows: AGY xf300 power filter —> nagra streamer —> holo audio spring 2 dac —> decware zen Sarah 300b amp —> pure audio project duet horns. 
 

I’ve been seeking a bit more of a lively energetic and nimble sound… I think the holo audio spring 2 may be a bit subdued given the context of the other components… and the air and liveliness of the Soulnote d1 sound like a possible terrific fit in this system…. 
 

what do you all think??

@whyrichard - I can't attest to the Soulnote D1 because I have not heard it. I do recommend the Soulnote D2. I understand the decware Sarah 300b amp sounds beautfiful. 

As an owner, I'll vouch for the SoulNote D2 for a "live music" sound, especially in it's None Over Sampling setting. If possible, I'd look for a used D2, but make sure it's the USA version.

I'll second the D-2 recommendation from above. I use a pair in mono mode and they are fantastic. But even just a single unit is already excellent. Used pricing can be very attractive on these since the brand is not as well known.
