Question for the older folks- did you ditch vinyl when cd arrived?

I was one of the people who got my opportunity when the rest of the world were disposing of their records like they were toxic waste. I trawled the second hand record stores. Cherry picking Original Pressings and import copies. Not to collect. Bought because it was great music. The bonus was the great pressing. 50% of my collection was bought in the 80s. F CDs.

No. But I only purchased CDs at that point.  Sadly I ditched vinyl when I began streaming.  I’m very happy with my digital side but seriously regret selling my 1200 LPs which were my collection, my father’s and my uncle’s.  I really want to get back into vinyl.  What’s holding me back is the painful thought of recreating a vinyl collection that was so well curated.  

I kept my vinyl that I had accumulated in college and treated them with care (Dishwasher, Aerostat, etc) and a good Thorens turntable.  When CD's came out, I jumped on the CD train although the selection was limited and so I mixed vinyl with CD's until I could essentially replace my vinyl with CD's.  Never sold my vinyl (still have them after 50 years!) but never listen to them either.  Now they are wall decorations or sometimes I will look at the album while playing it on Roon, and streaming or my music server is the only way for me.  So much easier, but glad I still have all of my old vinyl for nostalgia purposes.  Who knows?  Maybe when I croak, some other aging classic rocker and jazz aficionado who appreciates the old school vinyl will buy them from my estate!

Yes. And I ditched CDs when CD- bitrate streaming became available. I only kept the CDs that were special releases or remasters. And I sold all the LPs, except a handful that I can demo on my grandmother's old Magnavox stereo console. So all that clutter is gone.

Not right away.  I kept my Thorens player and vinyl until I purchased a Pioneer PD-65 elite CD player and then decided I could get by with just one physical disc format so I stuck with CD, which offered the benefit of being played in my vehicle.  Did not switch solely to streaming until Roon came along.
