Is anyone still using a CD Player

I have a bunch of CDs and the Krell 505 player.  I find myself defaulting to my Aurender Streamer and never listening to CDs.   I’m considering getting a CD Ripper and loading them via HSD or SSD card and loading into the Aurender.  Thoughts?  Am I in the dark ages even keeping the CD Player?

Yes,

My prior favorite player died. I went thru half a dozen searching, then got a recommendation here and found a lightly used great sounding player:

Sony xa5400es.

I am still re-discovering my existing CDs and SACDs, and actually bought some used CDs.

CD’s, SACD’s, Blu-Rays and Hi-Rez digital downloads. Still play them and still buy them. Using Bryston BCD3, PS Audio SACD Transport, Magnetar UDP900 Universal player. I’m still all in on physical media.

I find there is a lot of music out there that is not on the streaming platforms. Just a couple days ago someone told me of a Harold Land Quintet album he had. I looked on Qobuz, Tidal and Amazon and none of them had it! So I do still buy CD’s and still have a CDT that I still use at least once a week, but 90% of my music is streamed.

Years ago, I loved the ritual of cleaning, demagnetizing and playing my vinyl. Then it was cds with green discs on top and so on. Then full time streaming. Now, I stream Qobuz for convenience and discovery but fall back on my cds due to owning a ton of mofi 24k discs which simply sound consistently better than some streams. A hybrid approach is best for me. I’m using Pass Labs, Luxman and Devore Fidelity with a full Luna Cables loom and the natural dynamic and organic sound is perfect to my ears. Imagine listening to Getz/Gilberto on Mofi with Astrid in the right channel, only to stream it on Qobuz from the original and she’s in the left channel! Both are right for me, there is no wrong or outdated approach to enjoying your music!
