@curiousjim I like Carmell Jones and have a couple CDs from him. You should check out the 2 disc set "The Harold Land Carmell Jones Quintets" It covers all of the sessions they recorded together. I could not find it on Spotify but maybe its on one of the other streaming apps. Here is the album: |
I'm happy you found it. YouTube to the rescue! A great Max Roach/Clifford Brown west coast recording. The saxophone players are not well known but they play adequately in what was basically a jam session. Alto Saxophone – Herb Geller, Joe Maini, Tenor Saxophone – Walter Benton https://youtu.be/Of97cztI1tY?si=UjUSLSEmlDGobhWP Tenor sax Walter Benton did record 1 album as a leader with an all star personnel behind him with Freddie Hubbard, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb. https://youtu.be/HZm7LXs8HPg?si=P8KkRjE_PJOlM2v9
