KEF Blade One (non-meta) vs One Meta vs Blade 2 for large room

The title pretty much says it except the Blade 2's would be meta versions.

Trying to choose between these 3 speakers to fill a high ceiling (27’) 35’ long and 24’ wide living area. The room opens into a dining room then kitchen and breakfast area, that functionally increases the overall volume.

This is not a dedicated listening room ( I have a Wilson WP based room for that) and yes, aesthetics matter hence these 3 choices.

I’m thinking that the Ones might better fill the space with their bigger driver line-up. That said I doubt that they will be driven as hard as the Wilsons (in a smaller, fully treated room).

It will be very difficult to listen to all 3 so hoping those here with experience with 1 or more of these opine on which might be better suited to the room.

Thanks in advance.

David.

One area where they are def better than the WWPs  is no having to keep your head locked in a 2” sweet spot - with the Blades you can move around, stand up, even  lie down it seems.

Once I get used to a 'house sound' it becomes the norm for me. My first ambitious speaker purchase was the KEF R105/3 and when I tried to replace them after 25 years use everything I brought in sounded a bit off. Is no surprise I landed on the Blades after flipping about a half dozen different brands shopping that perfect sound.

I just got back to my other house with the WWP. I don’t think there is a comparison.

They are just so holographic and dynamic compared to the Blade 2s. Yes it’s a different amp and the room is totally treated (same Revox source and tape) but to my ear the difference is not subtle and “better”. I just kept listening to more and more music because they invited it. I haven’t felt that way about the KEFs so far. They are 1.5x the price but worth it IMHO. As always YMMV.

Note- in Sept the Blades will go into a new large room, semi- treated with a Mac amp so stay tuned for an update.

Good post, thanks for the updates. It's fun to follow people on their journey, and see the ups and downs based on room situation, other gear, etc.

Not everything will end up being a great match but it's still fun to try, and you don't really know how it will turn out so you have to go through the motions. If nothing else, you'll learn things along the way even if you don't keep the speakers in the end.
