The liner notes will say that Miles Davis wrote the songs. Bill Evans composed most of the album and Miles Davis took the credit. I think I got that information looking up Bill Evans on Wiki. Or perhaps talking about the album with chatgpt. Also, I may have watched a documentary on Bill Evans and learned that there. He was a brilliant composer. Miles Davis had him composing a lot. Apparently he was a modern day jazz Mozart who could kick out compostions quickly.
Does anyone have a digital system that is as involving as their analogue front end?
I have a good analogue front end. Not stratuspherically good but good enough for this comparison. VPI Prime Signature 21 turntable, Pass Labs XP-25 pono preamp, Pass Labs XP-30 preamp and Hovland Radia amp. It has a lovely, very involving sound. On the right recording, I just drop everythng and am drawn in to listen.
My streamer, on the other hand, is decent but not spectacular. It is better than my CD player, but it is not jaw-dropping like my analogue front-end. My question is this: does anyone have a high-end, tier-one streamer (dCS Bartok Apex, Lumin X2, or something like them) that can rival a good analogue system?

@audio-b-dog Yes I can’t set capacity. On Sutherland 20/20 Mk2 that I had a few years ago with hana ML moving coil, capacitance changes did nothing. I’m happy with the sound I have now. This Whest phono is awesome |
That's great. Don't question happiness. I had the issue with the SF Olympica V's tweeters when they opened up. Only with the turntable. Streaming was fine. I played with the impedence settings, but the trade-offs weren't working. Chatgpt suggested the capacitance, and it worked. For a while I had it set at 200, but found 160 did the trick. |
Back to the Meitner MA3i, it's performing brilliantly. It did need to break in, but it is so focused and yet smooth. Very analogue, and very involving. I will still play vinyl because it has its own charm, but so does the Meitner. I am playing Melody Gardot's "Sunset in the Blue," which does have cymbals being brushed, but all of it sounds effortless and about as good as is possible on my system. And I like my system a lot. |
@audio-b-dog that’s super cool! Expect the DAC to continue to evolve. I think mine was slightly changing up to 300hrs + but the initial break in is around 200 |
