It is absolutely not illegal for Wilson to price a pair of speakers for nearing a million dollars. Also it’s not illegal to be disgusted by it and hundred K plus paint job is absolutely Fin ridiculous!

Maybe I am getting old but Wilsons new flagship $780k and they feel it is justified,
lit gets better if you want custom paint $110,000 they said it takes 2 days to paint both speakers, Jays audio lab commented and I think it was way too much and
$110k for $300 in paint is nuts that is truly taking advantage of everyone with wealth, imo only an idiot would pay that. I guess nothing should surprise me any more !!

I would also point out as a marketing strategy for high end goods, charging a premium on customization is common and makes sense. You want to price the basic model to be within reach to as many as possible and then to add a high profit margin customization for those that are less sensitive to price. I'd also like to point out among the general public spending $10K on a set of speakers would receive all the criticism the Wilson does. Many peoples perspective here comes from their own net worth. I'm just guessing the average net worth of the folks here is not over $50M. If it were, I suspect the criticism would go away. |
Can a "high end" toilet paper roll cost 10k dollars because...hey...if you are rich and worth a billion, why not? NO, a toilet paper roll shall still cost 5 bucks for a billionaire's hiny. A billionaire can't be all that stupid, can he? A speaker is just 3 drivers in a box...nothing crazy about it.. A lithography machine EUV can cost 300 million dollars...justified A corvette may cost a 150k...justified Willie's 3 lil drivers in a box for 780k...not justified, whether you're a billionaire or not...A billionaire can't be all that stupid, can he? "WHY NOT" buy a bagel for 50k, and some wire for 200k if you're a billionaire?? NO, simmer down with the "why nots"...assuming people who may be a lot richer than you are on a different level of stupid. On the contrary, people who are also a lot richer than you can also be a lot smarter than you.
