Bookshelf/subwoofer combo

Looking for a good match, 10K or less. Upstream components will be picked later. I'll do as much research as possible on line as traveling to audition is pretty much impossible for me.

Thanks in advance.

@gournard O am quite interested in your comments about variable phase being available on new subwoofer designs. That should help with integration of subwoofers.

do also think that keeping systems as simple as possible is an effective solution to obtaining cohesive sound. I know that there is quite some debate going on with active room correction, but there’s benefits to being simple. Hence my moving away from subwoofers after 25 years of using them. Thanks for the references to explore.

@jallen, I suggest you take a look at SVS which IMO offers great value and in addition to variable phase provides the ability to adjust level, room gain settings,  PEQ and XO frequency and slope and more including the ability to save presets. Being able to set the slope to match that of your main speakers eg. 6 -24dB/octave improves phase tracking. All this can be managed on the fly with your phone using the SVS free app. from your listening position. There are other brands that do similar but I'm not sure if any of them offer the remote adjustment feature.

What I've not yet mentioned is that variable phase essentially allows you to place the subs where you would like them to be, where they are unobtrusive or visually attractive. Unlike phase flip dinosaurs.

If you do decide to use subs choose the easier to integrate sealed box designs which to my ear are superior. Also to mention that 2 smaller and cheaper subs will always outperform a bigger single sub by providing a smoother room response. Set-up is best accomplished by measurement and in addition to reading papers from the 2 gentlemen mentioned in my previous post there are hords of YouTube videos on how to accomplish this. It's fascinating, inexpensive and fun. Anybody not making use of properly dialed in multi-subs with measurement is seriously missing out. It's not just bass that improves, it is across the entire spectrum.

Unfortunately for some, those who don't turn to science, are content to believe a forum post or some salesman, of dubious knowledge and experience, who claims: "Sir with these fantastic new fullrange speakers you will never need subs"  So sad sad

This is my first log in since my last post because I came down with Shingles and haven't wanted to do anything .  When I feel better I'll come back and re-engage. Sorry for being such a flake.

I would start here, I will be when I need another pair of standmounts

Joseph Audio Pulsar Graphene (Used $6,000), Revival Atalante 3s 7" woofer (New $3,200) OR Atalante 4 Floorstanders ($5,500 new) or Atalante 5s 12" woofer ($6,000), Fritz Carbon 7s 7" woofer ($3,000), or Rosso Fiorentino Arno 20 6.5" woofer ($7,000 new)

Perlisten R5m monitor ~$6500.

JL Audio D110 subwoofer- ~$2400 / pair.

A bookshelf monitor with two 6-in woofers to fill in that above subwoofer impact.  Also has ability t plug the enclosure ports which eliminates the out of phase bass making subwoofer integration much more likely to be successful.

The JL Audio subwoofers are the best sounding subwoofers I have owned vs. REL T9s, SVS SB 2000 pro and SB3000 and others.  Clean sounding and well defined, zero cabinet buzzing or localization, 0-phase operation with no time delay vs the signal that feeds the mains, again for seamless integration.
