the one that got away - how do you handle grief?
I just lost a bid for my dream speakers that I had been chasing for a decade. It was pretty stupid because I missed the last hour and maybe I would have won it with another $100. But maybe it's a sign, it's just a piece of hardware, that I should not be obsessed with. - "you can't always get what you want"
Did you always get the gear you thought would make you whole?
@kennyc the story has taken a turn for the worst and I was too embarrassed to tell. I am done mourning and I am banging my head against the wall. I mixed up the seven stages of grief. @audition__audio I disagree with the general assumption that meaning of words are up to the individual. But in my next life, I will use this argument in all my exams when I am clueless. (which is my registered address according to the @thecarpathian Institute) |

Less than a week ago I declined to purchase what would have been ny dream speakers due to misinformation and reluctance to correct it. It was a tough decision, but when we are talking 6 digit money, I trust my gut. Low and behold as I was sharing my bad luck with our local audio group members, I was informaed that there might be the exact model I was trying to purchase available locally! I aksed if he could inquire and let me know the details. A day later we had arranged a time to meet so that I could see, hear and inspect them. So much better than I imagined and owned by the the type of meticulous individual with full blown CH rack with every top of the line component that they offer. Had to be close to $1M in system components alone! We listened and talked for about an hour and a half and he asked if I wanted to proceed. I stood up stuck out my hand and it is a done deal. I could not have imagined that I went from heartbreak to total elation in less than 2 days. As the old say goes "when one door closes another opens" never was more true for me. Keep your eyes open, network and be vigilant. |
