Posting photos?

I recently attempted to add a photo with a comment here.  Both dragging the photo and copying and pasting the IMG failed.  This is with an iMac.

I ask Amazon how to do this and just received a reply suggesting asking others how they succeeded.  So, summary help will be appreciated.

@elliottbnewcombjr  I always see your photos as elongated (on my phone)

I have found a workaround. Click on Source button and remove the height parameter: e.g. height: 375px;

Me troglodyte.  Virtually no idea what you guys are talking about.  Apparently this is not something normal people can do.

@billstevenson , others

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO COPY AND PASTE ??????????????????

what is unclear? have you tried it? try it right now! That’s an order!!!!!!!!!!

1. prep: open a post your response window, see the top bar of icons, see 6th from left, icon of sun over mountains (Image), you will use that later

2. new browser window, go here:

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/mini-challenge-818-whats-the-story.4839069/#post-68715226

3. hover your pointer over this image (or any following image you like)

4. right click, a pop-up window appears: find and select ’copy image address’ (it’s url)

5. back to post window, click the image icon, a dialog box pops open, an insert already blinking in the url line, waiting for you to:

6. paste the image address you copied (it’s url)

..................................

not done, now it’s about preventing distortion, you will change the width

7. width box: delete whatever is there, change it to 600.

8. click OK

The clock is ticking!!!!!

@elliottbnewcombjr, yes, that is the photo I attempted to insert.  However whether I leave the width box blank, insert 600 as you suggest, or utilize a larger number I found there with one trial, each time the image is horizontally compressed.  So each time I deleted my comment entry.  Very frustrated with Agon at this point.

And @ghdprentice, I'm not the OP, but I inserted my comment/question in this discussion and Elliott was good enough to show the result I am trying to achieve.  So I know it is somehow possible.
