Who do you turn to when you have the envies for funk?
FYI, envies, pronounced on-vees, is a cajun term for when you have the need, wants or have to haves for something usually food or music. As I cull and play grade my vinyl collection I am not so very surprised by how much funky music has made its way into my collection and thought it would be interesting to see who others go to for their funk. My go to artist for the most part are War, The Meters, Professor Longhair, Earth Wind and Fire, Sly the Family Stone, J Geils/Peter Wolf, George Clinton, James Brown, and Curtis Mayfield for the most part. Please add yours as I am always looking to get more funk in my life. Thanks for reading. Enjoy the music

Just to put it out there, if you never heard Eli Paperboy Reed check him out on Daryl’s House and get a taste of his voice as it is special. Wife and I went to see him live here in Houston just before covid and he did a few James Brown songs in his set which left me speechless, not everyone can do JB, I would love to see him do a James Brown cover album.
