Who do you turn to when you have the envies for funk?

FYI, envies, pronounced on-vees, is a cajun term for when you have the need, wants or have to haves for something usually food or music. As I cull and play grade my vinyl collection I am not so very surprised by how much funky music has made its way into my collection and thought it would be interesting to see who others go to for their funk. My go to artist for the most part are War, The Meters, Professor Longhair, Earth Wind and Fire, Sly the Family Stone, J Geils/Peter Wolf, George Clinton, James Brown, and Curtis Mayfield for the most part. Please add yours as I am always looking to get more funk in my life. Thanks for reading. Enjoy the music

@nlitworld just love it when my music bumps into other genres, like when Gatemouth Brown bumps into jazz and so on. Enjoy the music

@wfowenmd I had forgot about the Barkays, have a lot of their stuff on my vast Volt/Stax collection on cd, weren't they part of the Memphis Stax label working with Otis Rdding and Isaak Hayes? Enjoy the music
