Vinyl Storage Options

I have a large vinyl collection that I would like to store in my dedicated music room.  I have around 700-1000 albums that I would like to store one level high.  Looking at some custom options that are running around $5,000 - $7,000.

Looking for others experiences in this regard.

Thanks.

Generally in the shadows here, as much to learn and not much to add, but needing to deal with housing 1100 albums, had reviewed many options. While intending to conceal behind sliding doors, I nevertheless was looking for something aesthetically pleasing. The alternative I've come up with is a set of sleek rosewood file cabinets which can be easily modified to accommodate.

The cabinets found are a standard 30" wide and 67" tall. They have four drawers with 2-door cabinets at the top. In order to accommodate album height, the cabinet doors were removed and the drawer tracks reset to increase the space between the drawers, with albums readily housed. The drawer width was ideal for two albums side by side, with forward facing covers-a personal preference-as opposed to end-on storage.

The standard depth is 25", so at 90" wide and 67" high, I have been able to house more than 1100 discs with easy access and identification and when drawers closed, a sleek, quality, rosewood face.

While I haven't needed as yet, at only 67" high, there is surely some useful space above.

@drlou77  glad I could be helpful. If you do order from Jay I don’t think you’ll be disappointed

Check out Sidetracked Workshop. I bought some of their stuff and they do quality work for a reasonable price. Nice looking stuff

The Ikea Kallax is almost perfect as many have stated. I added a back to mine, making it better.

@drlou77, as a long time hobbyist I’ve gone through several LP storage options.  So to start with, a basic question.  Would you prefer a standard shelving array, like library books, or a bin style where it is easier to blip through your collection?

I have the former but in my elder years would choose the latter now for easier selection.  I end up down on my knees to pick from the bottom row, plus make certain I have adequate room lighting.

When I moved a few years ago I reduced my LP collection from about 3,000 to approximately 1,000.  The advantages to my oak cube system are flexibility (horizontal or vertical array), adaptability (add or subtract cubes as needed), sturdiness (a friend with a larger collection has these stacked 6 high), and the wire dividers within each cube to hold LPs vertical.  Mine are no longer made but this is a current copy.

I attempted to add a photo but apparently don't know how to attach one?
