Seeking advice about vinyl vs CD.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the music.

I'm trying to decide: should I get rid of (sell, give away) my Classical LPs and listen to Classical CDs/stream (not vinyl )?

The issue: although I like Classical music, I listen to other music most of the time. I'm not familiar with it. Classical 10%. Jazz, Rock, etc 90%.  Mostly vinyl.

I have about 300 Classical LPs. The hoarding side of me say's to keep it!

The practical side says, listen to CDs and stream when the urge hits. This makes needed space for other things.

Advice is appreciated.

Listen to both and decide.  I enjoy the ability to listen to both.  And sometimes I enjoy cd sometimes vinyl.  Options are a definite plus.

Play the same, say, three recordings on both mediums. Ascertain which provides the most satisfaction.

We can’t make that determination for you.

@OP Keep it! Even if you only listen to it occasionally, you'll regret getting rid of it.

Even though I have an excellent digital system, I prefer LPs to CDs in general for classical music especially.  Streaming at higher resolutions can match LP sound quality, but most CDs don't.

There's also whatever enjoyment or edification the LP jacket and liner notes can provide.  Those may be available on a CD or streaming app, but it can be more convenient to see them on a 12" by 12" surface rather than going through page after page of small print.

I don't know how old you are.  I'm in my 70s and for the last 30 years I have increasingly enjoyed and expanded my interests in classical music and have listened correspondingly less to rock music, which used to be my most-auditioned genre.  After a while the same old albums get stale, and there isn't much good new music in rock that I've heard.  I think rock albums are better served by CDs as long as they are remastered properly for the CD format, and unfortunately there are many rock albums which haven't been properly remastered.

Several key factors are in play here. The level of your analog/digital gear, the investment of time(cleaning/analog set-up) and the condition of the vinyl. FWIW you might be surprised by the amount of space a large CD collection takes.
