Harbeth, Ton Trager with Blue Tack

I purchased a demo pair of Harbeth C7ES3 XD and Ton Trager stands. The dealer had put a small amount of Blue Tack on top of each support to help hold the speakers in place. The sound has been very enjoyable but several folks have recommended using the stands with out anything between the speakers and stands so I decided to give it a try. After removing the Blue Tack it seemed the sound got more detailed with a slightly wider sound stage but also seemed to lose some thickness in the mid range which I liked. It seems unlikely that the small amount of Blue Tack could make this much difference. Anyone else have an experience like this?

You might also try Nobsound springs. $20-$30 for set of 4. I use them under my Spendors and they improve soundstage, blackness and speed.

I have the C7s on the Warfedale Linton stands. I use the Stack Audio AUVA isolators between the speakers and the stand. Not under the stands. Really improved the sound and soundstage.

Thanks for all the responses. My question was mostly concerned with the interface between the Harbeth C7 speakers and the Ton Trager stands since the stands are specifically designed for isolating the speaker and also allowing the speaker to vibrate freely which is how the Harbeths are intended to be used. It’s fairly common for people to use Blue Tack or something comparable because of how precariously the speakers balance on top of the stands so my question is has anyone heard a difference with and without the Blue Tack in place? Thanks!

So, you are sort of stuck with using something that adheres.  The link to Herbie’s gives the option of two-sided adhesion.  That’s all. Good hunting.
