Vinyl Storage Options

I have a large vinyl collection that I would like to store in my dedicated music room.  I have around 700-1000 albums that I would like to store one level high.  Looking at some custom options that are running around $5,000 - $7,000.

Looking for others experiences in this regard.

Thanks.

I had a carpenter make "built-ins" They work great, but I kept getting records, so I have need to augment the rackage to accommodate my acquisitiveness. I bought two sets of four of these Mapleshade racks:

I think they look great, and up to four shelves high, they are very sturdy.

I’ve had luck finding quality work workers on Etsy that will build affordable units to your specifications. Knowing my limits I was not going to build my own. You might want to look there as well as what’s been stated prior. I have one of the pieces included in my virtual system if interested.

See my system if you are interested, which is posted on AG.

I went with Ikea shelve/racks, then reinforced each unit (I have four) by adding 1/4" plywood back panel.  The plywood was glued & screwed to the back of each.

I can store ~600 LPs in each, totaling ~670 lbs per unit.   They make a great base if you want to place your gear on the top.  I can play with the dog right in front of the TT, and the cart never wabbles or skips.

Caution - I would not store 600 LPs on these units WITHOUT the addition of a glue & screw back panel.

Good luck,

@finnegan Do you have contact information for the people who used?

@audphile1 Thanks, this is option is financially and functionally attractive.

@inagroove Thanks.

Thanks to all for your help.

These are from IKEA, very sturdy and (considering) reasonably priced. Each cube can hold 75 LPs. There’s 5 cubes per unit, they have various sizes.
