The whole home surge protector is excellent, but it isn’t 100% coverage. 

If you want a no-fills, genuine product without audiophile marketing and fluff:

Go for one or more of their power conditioners. 

I would advise keeping power amplifiers plugged directly to the wall if you can, and have an electrician determine that those specific outlets are ultra-safe - on their own separate 15A or 20A line as their power demands are far more dynamic than the rest of the electronics. 

Attach ferrite cores to all your power cables 2 on each - one at the end closest to the plug, and the other closest to the AC inlet. You can buy these on amazon. Just measure the diameter of the cables with a tailor’s measuring tape that can be easily folded, so you get the right size in mm. This also works if you have audio electronics that have their own power cord, hard-wired to internal power transformers. 

If you do this - the improvement will be dramatic. Remember - audio electronics modulate electricity, and if  you can control how they do that, even at the AC level, so the conversion to DC and the overall transfer function to the speakers is more linear, then you get closer and closer to electrically optimal environment.

I would advise keeping the power/preamplifier/amplifier on their own power conditioner. Keep the source components and related components on another, so they are properly isolated.

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but you already have the V16. Listen to it and see if it makes a difference worth keeping. Otherwise, problem solved. One thing I will mention is surge protectors don't protect against lightning. Most people think they do. Even if the manufacturer claims it does, read the fine print. Its treated like an insurance policy. They'll give you instructions what to do for lightening. The reason they do this is to sell more units. Everyone wants lightening protection, so its well worth it for them to pay a few claims. Since all the details are buried in the fine print, its rare for them to actually have to pay for something.

@frank009 Thank you for the thoughtful, detailed response! I do have my power amp (5 channel Earthquake Cinenova Grande) plugged directly into the wall. That has never been plugged into a conditioner. It’s the only piece in my rig that isn’t plugged into the Furman.

My problem is extremely tight and limited space. So I only have room for the 1 conditioner which is why the Furman and now the V16 are perfect with the number of outlets…behind my system is just really inaccessible. I had someone come in and organize my wires as best as could be. It was truly spagghettiville! He did the best he could and it’s much cleaner than it was. I almost wish I could start over from scratch as upgrading components over the years got away from me and it became unmanageable…so I don’t have space or bandwidth to tweak back there.

@xmbw4 Appreciate the reply! Yes I just got the V16 yesterday but haven’t unpacked it yet. I did speak with someone at MD and he said all Shunyata’s offer protection with the V16 offering “Carling Electromagnetic breaker”, no idea what that is but I’m comfortable with that😂.

I read pretty unanimously in my research that V16 bests Elite 20PFi in sound improvements. I’m also comfy with that. I was just concerned that V16 offered no surge protection. I have no doubt that lightning no matter what protection you have, would make it through. I don’t expect any protectors to do miracle work.

I think you get the idea. If the cables and the conditioner are hidden from view, then they won’t be much of  a bother anyway. No need to unplug anything. Set and forget kind of thing. 1800 watts is plenty for most - 15A

We used them in industrial factories where extreme quality control standards were tightly regulated. Never had one fail !  Just keeps working around the clock, with an in-built circuit breaker that safely and gracefully cuts power to your electronics, then feeds it back rather than shunting it all to ground  in the event of a lightning strike. That's right, turns it in to usable electricity. I’ve actually seen them work this way in real time, and with my own system. Truly fascinating right? 

Oh, and try to keep the cables as short as possible if you can - just keeps things neater and less electrical resistance is never a bad thing for audio equipment on a grid.
