Best bang for the buck

What’s been the most cost effective item you purchased for your system?
I will go first- a Zerostat I bought 40 years ago. Next most cost effective purchase has to be a Denon DL103R cartridge which I bought new for $300.

Other than buying lots of gear used, my WiiM Ultra is fantastic for the price.

Bryston 3B purchased used in 1984 for $500. Still going strong.

When the Bryston SP1.7 l was using as a 2 channel preamp bit the dust recently l bought an interim unit so I could keep listening. Fosi P4 with 3 rca inputs and remote for $100 is quite good and l’m not convinced l need to spend more on something else.

I run a set of Linkwitz Orions, which being multi-amplified, call for 8 channels at 60 wpc.  I paid all of $500 for a 12 channel B&K MOSFET amp back in 2008.  Still running it today.  Sounds great.

Our retirement home.  We sold our small house in a prime location for so much dough that we were able to purchase double the space on 45 acres for half of the sale proceeds.  Now we have room for several systems featuring JBL Array 1400, Everest DD67000, Apogee Studio Grands, Tannoy Westminsters, Canterburys, Revel Salon 2, Hartsfields, 4350s, M2s, and lots more.  We didn’t have to spend one extra dollar since we were already needing to retire and get back out to the country.  Now I have to start unloading most of it before I drop dead and leave a big mess for my wife to clean up.
