Terry Gibbs-The Latin Connection Side 1 SQ*

James Taylor-JT Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Sade-Promises Side 2 SQ*

Joe Farrell-La Catedral Y El Toro Side 1 SQ*

Brahms/Symphonie No, 1/Bernstein Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Little Milton-I Will Survive Side 1

Lynn Anderson-Stay There Til I Get There Side 1

Jim Croce-Photographs And Memories Side A

Glad to have an Audiophile evening back! Only Croce/Sade were previously played. Have overlooked James Taylor. Despite his commercially pointed MOR status, thoroughly enjoyed JT and the SQ crown winner(Doug Sax) Only Ms. Anderson suffered from SQ issues. Terry Gibbs might be the oldest living recorded jazz musician(101) but his 1986 release is killer! Little Milton delivers a top level 1980's blues recording.

@slaw...what is your take on the "Pet Sounds" albums?

https://trackingangle.com/features/the-pet-sounds-one-step-controversy-has-gotten-way-out-of-hand

I assume you have a few other copies other than the ones you posted.   Which is best in your opinion?

Thanks!

Hey @mofimadness

Yesterday I was at a friend’s house listening to the two Pet Sounds I posted. The DSS/mono sounds very good and I could live easily with it. The AP/stereo was actually very close IMO, but I felt it had a richer midrange. If I were to seek out another copy, it would be the AP.

I played my two copies the other week but didn’t have them with me to compare. My 1999 Capitol/stereo beat out the DCC/mono in my system.

@limomangus...I agree.  I was never a big Beach Boys fan and always thought that album was kinda weird.

I have the US & UK 1st pressings and a German and Japanese pressing, but never bought an Audiophile pressing of it.

If I do, that's why I asked @slaw what his favorite was.  I trust his judgement.
