I built a music discovery app for Tidal and Qobuz users. A lot has changed since launch.

Some of you might remember my first post about Sonic Oracle. I built it because I personally needed it and nothing like it existed. I wanted to type in an artist I love and get back a playlist of artists I’ve never heard of who share something with them. Not algorithmic "people also listened to" suggestions. Deeper connections based on sound, style, and taste.
Since launch, the app has grown significantly.
Genre coverage expanded to 44+ sub-genres across 10 genre families. K-pop, city pop, gypsy jazz, acid jazz, darkwave, krautrock, fado, klezmer, djent, sludge metal, flamenco, cumbia... if your taste runs deep, Sonic Oracle goes there now.
Niche and cross-genre artists work much better. Obscure composers, experimental artists, soundtrack creators. Seeds like these used to return thin results. Not anymore.
The newest feature is click-to-discover. When your playlist comes back, click any artist in the results to start a new search from them. Chain one discovery into the next without going back to the search bar.
Three discovery depths: Essential (closest matches), Balanced (a mix), Adventurous (deep cuts you won’t find elsewhere). Adventurous is where it gets interesting.
Playlists land directly in your Tidal or Qobuz library. Roon, Audirvana, Bluesound, WiiM, and every other app or streamer picks them up instantly.
Still a solo developer. Still improving it every week.

Allessandro..I bit the bullet and purchased a yearly subscription..My latest question is...Do you or does anyone contributing in this post know how to group different artists SONIC Oracle playlists (within ROON) together under one folder? I ask as I noticed these individual artist folers are scattered throughout the list of playlists in the left column in ROON...Thanx guys, Jeff

Quick update for everyone following this thread.

Two new features went live this week. Swap lets you replace any artist in your results with a fresh pick from the same discovery pool. Blacklist lets you permanently remove an artist so they never show up in any future search. Both work for all users, free and paid.

Also hit 150 paid subscribers this week. For a solo developer with no marketing budget, I'm grateful for the support and the feedback from this community. Audiogon has been incredible.

If you haven't tried it yet, three free playlists at https://sonicoracle.music/

Hey Denny

i'm sorry for the late respond but your message and @mooncrikit gor lost in my email notifications

A few things to check:

1. On the sign-in modal when you click "Connect Qobuz," there's a tutorial video that walks through the bookmarklet setup step by step. Can you confirm you followed that exact flow? Qobuz tutorial video: https://youtu.be/qsrLvHNFu-A
2. Make sure you're logged into Qobuz in the same Chrome window (not just the same browser, the same window) before dragging the bookmarklet and clicking it
3. The bookmarklet needs to be run while you're on the Qobuz website, not on Sonic Oracle's page

If you're still stuck, email me at [email protected] and I'll walk you through it live. I want to make sure you get connected.

Hey Jeff

sorry about the late reply and thanks for subscribing!

Roon doesn't have native playlist folders, but there are two workarounds that should help:

1. **Tags**  In Roon, you can tag each Sonic Oracle playlist with something like "Sonic Oracle" and then filter your playlist view by that tag. Select a playlist, click the three dots, Add to Tag, create a new one.

2. **Naming convention**  If you search an artist in Sonic Oracle, the playlist gets named automatically. You could rename them in Qobuz/Tidal with a prefix like "SO -" so they sort together alphabetically in Roon.

The playlists live on your Qobuz or Tidal account, so any renaming you do there will sync back to Roon on the next library scan.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you run into anything else.

Yes, Alessandro..Something odd just transpired. While creating Adventuous playlist, I get a pop up "CONNECTION LOST"..I restarted the app and same issue...Could this be browser related??? Thanx!
