No, it is not the same designing Icon James Bongiorno of GREAT AMERICAN SOUND (GAS) and (SAE) SCIENTIFIC AUDIO ELECTRONICS. He Passed away 1/10/2013. But you must understand that one reason it did not get a great review at first was because that name was not attached to the MFG of the new company. the name of some gear and equipment gives it a placebo effect in the minds of some, and that is why the word SUBJECTIVE comes into play. Now today that amplifier has a very strong following and great wordings to back up its performance up in the affordable Ultra High End. Your right they did not get a good review from some at first, but that first unit was reworked and is now a Giant Killer In the lower end price range of the ULTRA HIGH END because of its BANG FOR THE BUCK Compared to amplifiers costing 2 to 3 times as much. could it be the Placebo effect working again by saying it was reworked and now reviews are favorable?, of cores they are not saying it can compete with the likes of GIFFIN or DAN D' AGOSTINO or anything in the $75,000 or $100,000 and up amplifiers, but its Power puts it in the ballpark of that LEAGUE of power amplifiers for much less money. Once you reach that level of power sound becomes very SUBJECTIVE if you do not find the right SYNERGY with other Equipment to pair with a specific amplifier and or other equipment. With the new SAE 2-HPD They have fond that SYNERGY and have recommendations of DACs and Preamplifiers for that pacific amplifier to perform in the Ultra-High End of the higher price bracket amplifiers. As for reviews, some reviewers just did not promote SAE then in the 70s under his name and some just will not promote it today because it is not in the mainstream. so, I concluded with... Some Followers Follow the Flock and some Think Outside Of The Box. Its all ((( SUBJECTIVE))).
Good day and Peace to All
