Break In Question?
I have been under the assumption that in order for a component to break in there must be a signal pass through from one piece of equipment to another. That is, running a Dac/Preamp into an amp, the amp must be turned on for the Dac/Preamp to break in.
But is this really true? Does the amp really need to be turned on?

Speelerr My comments are directed only at Doug. You should go by your experience and your experience only. It is good to have you on the forums and while I dont agree with you on break-in, my problems were never with the other members opinions on any issue. Notice he is now contacting Agon because he is now, possibly, beginning to see some blow back. He knows he was in violation and is checking after the fact so he can say he did. Too little too late I think at least for me. |

@gdaddy1 You are using visual cues to alter the hearing perception which we all know is a huge part of our evolution. But there is no visual cues in an audio system. You are comparing apples to oranges. Maybe link one that is more convincing. And as noted, if looked at the top of the forehead, the effect goes away. |
@douglas_schroeder no you are not vindicated, audiogon doesn’t enforce their own rules, as an example their is a forum member here that actually advertises his upgrades to a well known Dac, he even says we are running a sale and gives the price of the sale, yet audiogon does nothing about it. |
Thank you invalid. This is the last blow from me to this dead horse. There are clear guidelines prohibiting "self promotion" in the rules regarding forum behavior. In fact google this and it is one of the first things to come up. If he wants to promote his book, pay for the privilege like the rest of us.
