Monitor Audio Gold 50 vs Studio 89

Hey just curious if anyone has heard both to compare or even just share your experiences with either if not both. I dont have a way to audition either without taking a chance, but these are similarly priced. Are they nearly identical performance wise? Or is there something else going on here such as better/more refined treble in the studio 89 at the expense of lower bass? Lemme know if you're in the know, I'd appreciate it!

My take is that the 50 was truly designed as a surround speaker for a home theater set up.  Or a desktop setup. The 89 will perform more like a source point because of the MTM design. My dealer really tried to push the 89’s on me until I ponied up for the 100 6g. I was looking at upgrading my Kef ls50 and their next upgrade is the r3. Wanting to hear a ribbon tweeter, looked at Monitor Audio for an offering.
you were also gonna want a hefty amplifier for them.

Thats kind of where I’m sitting at the moment as far wanting to hear another ribbon/amt type of tweeter. I wasnt sure if the tweeter used in each was the same unit or what have you. Amplifier won’t be an issue: an Anthem P2 would be powering it or one of its little brothers. Plenty of watts and current on tap. As far as bumping up to the Gold 100, I might be inclined to take it a step further and just do the Gold 300. Small floor standers perform quite well in my modest listening space. Appreciate the response 👍

I hear what you’re saying about getting the 300. I would like to point out that as nice as the ribbon tweeter is, the 8 inch woofer is kind of the star of the show without realizing it.  So in hindsight if the room could handle it, I would look at a 500.
