In no particular order- Springsteen at the Meadowlands, Giants Stadium, or whatever it was called in August, 2016. Perfect weather, great show that never ended. Got home at 2:30 AM, and my first day of teaching for the new school year was the next morning. Also, my sweetie and I were celebrating our anniversary. Grateful Dead, August, 1974 at Roosevelt Raceway. Nixon resigned that night, the jams were incredible. I was dancing with a pretty girl I didn’t know and we shared her drink, and a kiss. She dosed me. What a ride home!! Also, May, 1977 @ Cornell. Many people think it’s the best GD show. I dunno. Hendrix, Band of Gypsies, Fillmore East, New Years, 1970. Imagine being 13 years old. Josh Ritter, May, 2024. Incredible solo acoustic show in my hometown, Montclair, NJ. I walked to and from the show. NRBQ, 1979 @ Lone Star Cafe and 1980, touring with Carl Perkins. Rock n roll. Patti Smith, Bottom Line, NYC, 1975. Horses had just been released and I scored tix minutes before the show started. The encore, My Generation, had John Cale on bass. The hype was real. David

I’ve seen a lot of shows and I can’t say that there is one that was the best show I’ve ever seen in my life. Many are memorable for the setting, the events leading up to, during, or after a show. Some were great performances by bands I wasn’t expecting to be. The best show I’ve seen in the last 2 years was the most recent one that happened to be last night. The New Pornographers played a small venue in Baton Rouge. Standing room only with a crowd of about 150-200 people. It was like a living room concert. The band was tight and gave a great show. I’ve never not been disappointed by TNP live. I’d say my top performing live bands would be: New Order The Cure Skinny Puppy Nine Inch Nails Front 242 Calexico Janelle Monae Thievery Corporation Massive Attack Radiohead New Pornographers Broken Social Scene Peter Murphy Fishbone Dave Alvin Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys Jason Collett Flaming Lips The The U2 Depeche Mode TV on the Radio Old 97s Ted Leo & the Pharmacists Neko Case Norah Jones OMD Sonny Rollins Van Morrison Social Distortion
