Upgrade from B&W 802D1 to Focal Utopia Scala Evo

@bartsw I recently changed amps.  I was using a Mark Levinson 532H, 300 wpc amp, on my B+W 802 D2 speakers. I was never happy with the bass. The ML 532H does not double down, so it's 300 wpc at 8 ohms, not rated at anything else. I put in Class D monoblocks, 380 wpc at 8, 700 wpc at 4 and 2 ohms.  The BASS is incredible. You can hear individual notes being played on the bass guitar. The kick drum is obvious. My point is, you need an amp that doubles down into 4 ohms.

I put in Class D monoblocks, 380 wpc at 8, 700 wpc at 4 and 2 ohms.  The BASS is incredible.

I'm also using class D 500@8ohm/1000W@4ohm. I'm wondering if it more has something to do with the speed and immediacy. I'm also wondering if this strength seems to speed up / lessen the effects of tubes. I haven't heard any claim the pairing of class D with tube preamp as good as class A/AB.

At around 200hrs sit down for a listen.
