How does JPLAY compare to Audirvana? I just got that and run it on my Mac Studio into a pair of Ruark tabletop computer speakers and have been happy once I got past a few confusing things about the interface, but the sound is wonderful.

JPLAY 1.4.2 is out now.
The main highlight is a brand new look — Alternative Dark, a fresh take on the classic dark mode. We've also added twomore themes: a fully refreshed Light theme (cleaner, brighter), and Monochrome (minimalist and elegant). To switch themes: Settings → Appearance → Themes (app restart required). Also in this release: - "Add to" button now also lets you add to Favorites, Save for Later, or Rate Update from the App Store. Let me know which theme is your favorite! Marcin |
Thank you for your continual improvements on this wonderful piece of software that sounds better than Roon, and for posting here on Audiogon! But orange progress bar? No thank you- dark with blue bars all the way for me thanks. And for those who aren't aware, dark does use less energy than light on iphones. From a practical sense, I haven't actually timed how much longer one can use dark over light but in theory: AI states anywhere from 3-40% less energy is consumed with dark. "Saved for later" is a nice addition, of course similar to listen later function on Roon, which at first I thought this is just silly, I can just send it to a playlist named "whatever I want to call it", but I found that I actually did use it with Roon. Much appreciated! |
Does Jplay have anything like the Radio functionality in Roon where you can play a tune and when it's over Roon will continue playing music similar to original tune, either from your own library and/or from your Qobuz/Tidal streaming library. I find this feature very useful, and I've discovered some great music. Thanks. |
Thanks for the kind words and for the input! If battery life is a priority, the **Black theme** is the way to go — it completely dims the black areas of the screen on iPhone OLED displays, which is where the real energy savings come from. Dark themes save some power vs Light, but Black takes it further by letting individual pixels turn fully off. Glad you're enjoying the new features. Yes, JPLAY has exactly this functionality — it's called **JPLAY Radio**. Once you start playing a track, JPLAY Radio will continue playback with music similar to what you were listening to, drawing from your library and the streaming services you have connected (Qobuz, TIDAL, HIGHRESAUDIO). Like Roon, it's a great way to discover new music. To activate JPLAY Radio: 1. Tap the mini player bar at the bottom of the screen to open the Now Playing view. Once enabled, JPLAY will automatically play similar tracks as your current queue ends. Best regards,
