Does anyone have a digital system that is as involving as their analogue front end?

I have a good analogue front end. Not stratuspherically good but good enough for this comparison. VPI Prime Signature 21 turntable, Pass Labs XP-25 pono preamp, Pass Labs XP-30 preamp and Hovland Radia amp. It has a lovely, very involving sound. On the right recording, I just drop everythng and am drawn in to listen.

My streamer, on the other hand, is decent but not spectacular. It is better than my CD player, but it is not jaw-dropping like my analogue front-end. My question is this: does anyone have a high-end, tier-one streamer (dCS Bartok Apex, Lumin X2, or something like them) that can rival a good analogue system?

EMM Labs treats their customers right. I’ve had multiple interactions with several different people before and after I purchased my MA3i. Helpful and never rush thru a conversation. Classy folks there.

@mapik

Well great sounding vinyl isn't dirt cheap. But in most cases these days the equivalent digital is roughly equivalent in cost to analog... but you have to choose the correct house sound. So it is there... and then the drain in your buying vinyl goes away.

I don't know if you were asking me about speakers. If you were, I have Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V speakers. These aren't your father's Sonus Fabers, though, that had a romantic tweeter that was never harsh. My speakers are very transparent. I hear everything, and they capture what is good about vinyl on good recordings. I will see how they do with a much better streamer.

One of the digs about the Meitner MA3 is that it does not have strong bass. I'll see how they sound on my system which has three 7" woofers and gets bass pretty right. I can't have solid bass when my wife is here. When she goes out I play things like Pharoah Sanders and Flora Purim. Both sound good loud.

@ghdprentice  Oh I know the choicest vinyl pressings are never going to be dirt cheap. They just keep going up. Finding them for "less" is part of the enjoyment for me. I was referring to waiting for digital tech to catch up to analog and for it to be dirt cheap. Chinese Streamers and DACs are getting better and better and cheaper. It won't be long now where we will be able to have streaming music sounding as good as vinyl. But we aren't there yet.
