JL Audio Primacy full range powered speakers

Looks like JL Audio is trying to break into the monitor and tower powered speaker game. They are certainly not cheap! The tower 90k and the monitor 35k per pair. When you could get a pair of ATC SCM150asl for 45k I don't see them selling many. Especially with class D amplification and their well documented history of amp failures in there Fathom subs.

Yet, fanboys exist. You would think it would depend on who The speaker designer is. Might have found themselves a servant, genius.

Thanks for posting about these new speakers. I see it more as more of affluent, lifestyle high-end audio solution than an audiophile, hobbyist product. The ATC has less integration and features and is more "old school". The SCM150s are great speakers, though. The Primacy is very similar to the YG Live lineup, but looks like YG includes the controller unit. An extra $15k for JL’s control unit is kind of a buzz kill.

Picking one brand of competitive speakers doesn’t eliminate the market adoption of a company’s new product. 

 

How do they sound? How do they look in person? How easy are they to integrate with (their) subs? Do you desire an all - in 1 speaker / system? Focal and JL Audio seem to think so.

 

Also, I owned 4 Fathoms and the only problem I ever had over 10 years was a very slight hiss out of 1 only heard up close and when the music was off. The well - documented history of amp failures was from units built many years ago and not pervasive and continuous as far as I know and IME.
