What Could Cause Center Image To Present Lower than Expected
@avanti1960 no offence but none of what you recommended will affect image height. What affects image height is rake angle and it is somewhat speaker - dependent. In general, raking the speaker back will raise the image but again, with some speaker...
Affordable SS that sound like Tubes
Wells Audio Innamorata.
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
@ghdprentice You misinterpreted my point - by subjective I meant with your ears and heart, not measurements (which I made no mention of, but you subjectively jumped to). Net is - modern SS is simply better, better dynamics, better bass, more reali...
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
Was this written in 1995 and just released now? :-)   Tubes are not quantifiably better than SS, in fact, the majority of true reference - class systems run solid state, which has been long optimized to be (subjectively of course) better than tu...
What is the proper loudness for listening?
Your gear, your speakers, your room along with treatment (or lack thereof), the equal loudness curve along with your personal preference all play a role.
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system?
Access to millions of songs for the cost of Netflix, which, with the right gear can sound phenomenal and for most, the best quality you can afford.
DCS Network Bridge? Aqua LinQ Streamer?
Hi @designsfx,  The LinQ is a modular design and there are 2 modules for use with HQPlayer: The HQPlayer NAA module whereby you can feed it a stream using a Music server which acts as the HQPlayer Core or you can install both the HQPlayer NAA mod...
DCS Network Bridge? Aqua LinQ Streamer?
@thieliste Yes, you're correct, I did get the TD gear on loan from Vincent and returned it.  @designsfx WRT the LinQ stand - alone which in my case was employing the HQPlayer core, it sounded excellent and on par with my at the time music server....
DCS Network Bridge? Aqua LinQ Streamer?
I do still have the LinQ and the Formula. I redid my music server with the latest Intel chipset, M.2 SSDs, lines with copper sheets / copper weights and 3M EMI / RFI shielding and there is a not - so - subtle uptick in dimension and tonal accuracy...
When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one...
In my systems I have rarely if ever experienced a speaker at 1/3 the cost trumping another. However, in others' systems I have. As others have already mentioned much has to do with room placement, personal preference, room treatment application (o...
American Made Audio Products
As everyone knows we live in a global economy and much of the design, testing and manufacturing along with parts / sub - assemblies often come from different parts of the globe for all types of products. As such, I’d wager ~10% of the list of comp...
Magico vs the world
There is no one best manufacturer or best speaker, it's completely subjective. Also, so much depends on the amp(s), preamp and source when demoing.    All that said, a few years back when looking for my next speaker the top of my list included M...
Best speakers around $130k?
Sad state of affairs when the peanut gallery can't give advice and instead insult or joke ad nauseum. IME for $130K new I would recommend Magico M3s, Vivid Audio Giya G1 Spirits, Rockport Lyras and Vandersteen 7 XTRMs are all excellent. I would a...
Short list of musical subwoofers
After owning and hearing many subwoofers (Rel, SVS, Rythmik, Funk Audio, JLA, Martin Logan, Elac, etc.) the best for music was JL Audio. Your SVS and Rythmik are great for HT, music not so much. I would suggest a JLS Dominion D108 which TAS gave a...
How to tame a bright system?
Check the tweeter height versus your ear height. I personally like my ear in between the tweeter and midrange. Also, try toeing out to not have the tweeter directly pointed at your ears. Finally, implement room treatment, especially at first refle...
