Buying a Luxman L505z from Japan

Hey, so I’m looking to purchase a Luxman L505z from Japan - I will need a 120-100v step down transformer . I wanted to find out if anyone has experience with this and if it will compromise the sound in anyway? I saw one from a dealer on eBay with a 99% rating, but I’m unsure if I should trust it. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

Most of the naysayers have never tried to power a Japan amp with a step down.

I have done so successfully with Luxman and Accuphase. With the Accuphase's, I used a step down before having converted to US 120V spec. NO difference in sound. I second @elliottbnewcombjr 's rec. I have that very unit and have had great results. Enjoy!

@OP - buy in your local market - the compromises in using a transformer and lack of warranty and after sales service support just aren't worth it. At the end of the day  day, after you pay import duties and buy the transformer, how much are you going to save.

Maybe a 40% savings. If nothing goes wrong with the unit, a decent risk benefit proposition.
