New speakers or new car?

Depending on what city you live in why even bother getting a car. Using rideshare, It’s close to being on par with all the financial stuff you have to deal with buying and driving a car. It’s like 20 bucks round-trip, use it 30 times in the month. Math don’t lie. 

New speakers... no contest. 

The old adage of you can tell an audiophile because his system cost more than his car(s)... has been true with me since 1979. A car is just transportation. Even true when I bought a new Lexus in addition to my SUV. 

See, I'm sort of the opposite. I had no qualms about writing a check for my then new truck and yet I wouldn't dream of spending even half that for new speakers.

That may be because I spent most of my adult life in the auto industry (retail parts and service). Then again, I drive less than 4k miles per year and since it's a Toyota, I'm hoping for it to be my last vehicle purchase.

If you’re willing to buy a car and speakers that are five years old you could have both for around $50k instead of just one or the other.  I’d think that’d make it a lot easier to part with that kinda cash.
