Should AI generated posts be banned or otherwise regulated?

I just wonder.

At least, when I start a new thread, I am expecting other people's opinions.  I can get my own AI response so I am not sure why others would repeat what I can do myself.

If someone were to have access to some better AI than I have access to, I guess that would be useful info I could not otherwise get.  But in general, I wonder why posters think responding with AI content is useful to someone who can get that directly themselves.

Today I woke up to a power outage.

It was horrifying. I didn’t know what to do. I enabled cellular on my iPad and immediately plugged in my phone to the backup battery I have. I was planning to extend a cord from the refrigerator to the large battery cell I have in my basement. I was preparing for a full survival mode operation.

I opened and closed the refrigerator extremely quickly and it was still cold so that was good. so I was able to have breakfast.

I woke up to absolute silence and was confused.

I consulted AI and it told me power would be restored in an hour.

Without AI I’m not sure what I would’ve done.

Highly recommended cellular iPads otherwise you won’t have any means to contact the outside world.

I used to like Jamie diamond but I think he's getting older and he's becoming very annoying with his wacko predictions. But he does a great job with his little company and probably is an exceptional manager but I think people get too interested in everything he says. Be very cautious of charismatic people.

Congratulations on solving pancreatic cancer. Does this include prevention or only after you get it?

Funny, I just call the utility company on our land line when experiencing Los Angeles power outages and receive timely updates.

Suppose I could call them from my $20 ($80 for 360 days of service) cell phone but the audio on the land line is better.

Well it's here and it's not going to stop.In 20 years,we will be saying remember when you had to look things up,yourself. Like when people went to a library to look things up.If there parents or grandparents didn't have encyclopedias...lol.

Phone books. That was when people gave up their name, location, and phone number...without pause.

Within the typical timeline of medical discoveries - from discovery to implementation - is about 10-15 years. Likely 20 years since the FDA has been decimated and earmarked for elimination if science deniers have their way.

AI sounds great if all things were equal, but in real life whatever you accomplish in a flash via an online tool is going to take years to mature.

While AI dramatically shortens the discovery phases in science, the process that results in effectuation has been extended. One cancels out the other, in time.
