Douk Audio T8 Pro vacuum tube equalizer

I recently bought a Douk Audio T8 Pro 7 band equalizer on a whim.  I have a mid range system which consists of an Arcam A25 integrated amp, Arcam SACD player, B&W 704 speakers, Panamax m5400 power conditioner, and Project turntable. I don’t like the fact the Arcam has no bass or treble control so I actually like the addition of the Douk so I can move some of the vocals a little more forward and I do prefer a little brighter sound.  I know what the purist thoughts are regarding recreating the true sound as the artist intended it so I don’t need any comments regarding that.  I just like what I like.  My question is has anyone swapped the vacuum tubes on the Douk and if so what did you find was the best tube for a more holographic warm tube sound? My previous set up consisted of Rogue Audio monoblock amps and Totem speakers and I’d like to recreate that sound as closely as I can without spending that kind of money.

I cannot help you for tubes choice, i drive them with the tubes  sold with it. I bought some tubes from Ukraine 1 year ago  but i did not change them in the Douk yet...

I bought the Douk T8 pro  and i like it....I need it to drive as pre-amp my self powered Edifier speaker...In my acoustic small room in nearfield i forget about any upgrade...

It is probably the best piece of gear we can buy for a low price with some Chinese Schumann generators...Name an equalizer with no evident limitation  at this price point?

I will wait for someone  who will chimes in with a tube proposal ...  smiley

It is an amazing low cost piece of equipment.  I was very skeptical but am now a big fan!

Had in my Ali cart for about a week when price was 120. Today got an offer for 83. New, updated version. Would prefer silver, but I saw that the finish was not so good, so happy with black. Going between LKS 004 dac and pair of Genelec 8050b. Coming from iPad c to ifi iusb to Musical fidelity DDC via helix design Xlr cables. Sounds wonderful, but wanted to add some flavor and control. Throw in 5 pairs of new Neutrik Xlr ends for $20! $112 OTD. That’s crazy. Already had some of discrete op amps somewhere in my bin to play around as well. Cheapest way to keep me occupy for awhile for sure. I went in as deep as building tube preamps DIY after a week of drowning in the web. Never mind the balance issue, I just couldn’t find meaningful solution for my setup. Maybe this is the future of consumer audio. At this point I don’t even care if it sounds bad. Likely not. I just want to enjoy music.

TKirby:

Here is a new thread with an inexpensive unit that uses (I think) the same tube you queried as a buffer.

Might be worth following for new info if owners roll tubes.

Didn’t see that coming. But it’s not balanced. Only buffer I’ve seen so far worth looking was modwright. Again, price difference between two and able to plug some discrete op amps to mix around, was enough for me. Seen somewhere, they compared modded t7pro to  Schiit Freya+. Looking forward to add into my chain.
