Thank you for all of the thoughtful responses.
I should mention that I’ve got 2 Rhyhmik E15HP2 subs that I will keep and leverage in the new system for low-end pressure.
@ghdprentice. I’d forgotten about Acoustat. I was a dealer for them back around 1980 and had a number of them. I quite liked the 2+2, I thought it was one of their best. I like the SF’s and if I go box-type they will be on my short list.
@laaudionut. LMAO, great music, but horrible recordings, I agree. I was a big fan of UK until they split up and Asia was sort-of close to their sound. John Wetton, RIP, same front man.
@tablejockey. I’ve listened at length to the ML Renaissance 15a and I like them.
@deep_333. I only get 1 set of speakers. I want to keep the wife very happy – my life is way better when that happens! I do like the power and intimacy of the big JBLs, but they are not what I’m looking for.
@g2the2nd. Interesting, I didn’t know anyone other than Ohm was making a Walsh-based speaker. I’ll see if I can find a pair and listen.
@tt1man. I’d love to hear more about your PAP experience.
@theophile. Not going to happen for me, but very interesting site.
@jrareform. Hmmm. I hadn’t thought about Legacy or Genelec.
@steakster. I was in the MBL room at AXPONA 2026 and thought the sound was OK, but I didn’t experience the magic imaging people rave about.
@audiopacer. I’ve heard the SCM50’s and thought they were pretty good for an improved BBC monitor sound, but that’s not what I’m looking for.
@rtrlover. I agree with all, but I’m very inclined to try OB speakers. It may be short-lived, but I want to try them.
@fastfreight. The Vivid Giya 1’s are an interesting idea, but they are a bit pricey.
@ronboco. I thought the Rockport Avior II at AXPONA 2026 was one of the better speakers I’d heard there. Very reasonable price comparatively speaking.
@parkergetdean. Thanks for sharing that speaker tool. Lots to think about.
@kennyc. Thank you.
@tweak1. Thank you. I used to live in Santa Cruz, CA and almost had Ric assemble/tweak an amp for me. He is a very knowledgeable guy with good ears.
