Use Mazda of France EL84s that was bought from Brent Jesse before he retired. Pairs nicely with the Telefunken EL83s in the Luxman Sq-N150.
Dipping my toes into EL84 tubes
As I am researching amplifiers, it occurred to me I don’t have experience with el34 (though I have heard a Leben 600), el84 which people seem to like, 300b or any of the major tubes really.
so based on the seemingly overwhelming love people have for EL84, I’ve been looking for cheap but decent integrated or power amp based on EL84. Used is fine and under $1k USD. If you’ve heard it and thought it was pretty darn good for the money let’s hear it.

I might add the great sounding ST35 from GetDynaco.com with great build quality from Kenny Russell. Kenny will build a standard part list ST or all out assault as I have. Great tone with extreme clarity using a matched quad of Groove Tubes EL84. All this produced with a captive lamp wire power cord. Absolute sacrilege. Absolutely dead silent on 100db horns and slotted between the FW F3 and F5 is every bit as satisfying. No affiliation with GetDynaco.com. |
