Margules gear??

Anyone own, heard any gear from this company? Out of Mexico.

I'm particularly interested in the Magenta acrh-3 hybrid.

Any insight or opinions will help.

@thecarpathian ...own, heard any...?

Yes. Sounds very nice, yet longevity is something to ensure you have a regional distributor & repair contact, or you might be carefully packing and sending back and forth to Mexico City. A close friend bought two units and ended up shipping one unit back and forth twice for long periods of troubleshooting, repairs. While lots was replaced inside the 2nd go-around, he finally put the gear to the side and went with regional US made tube components instead that still will work great to this day - no issues. If you proceed, ensure there is a full warranty coverage and discuss shipping costs, in advance. Thats been 4-5 years now, and hopefully all is much better now. It's gotta be as they've been around for a while now.  Good Luck.

Thanks, all.

@decooney , yeah, that's a concern I have. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards domestically made, like Rogue. I'm paring down my tube gear, but still want a couple in the mix. I've got a lot of nos 12au7's so I'm concentrating on an integrated that utilizes them. Actually just sold my old 10 tube BAT phono stage to the man himself, Victor Khomenko. Nice fella. I'm also looking hard at the Rogue Pharaoh2. In no hurry, though. I've much bigger financial priorities right now.

To @thecarpathian - speaking of that, I had several pairs of (vintage and re-issue) 12aU7s myself I let my buddy try in the gear and none of them worked - at all, buzzing, weird squealing, in the particular  unit he bought. The only tube that would work was the original JJ, and something about the voltage had to be exact to that other tube the unit came with. He was super bummed. He was told some new units and design changes since, so it's possible that's all been resolved.  Btw, I think Rogue is looking up past five years too, some neat stuff they had at Axpona. I was supposed to try some of their tube monos a few years back and it never came about.  If you go Rogue, post a thread and let us know how it goes. Good Luck.

@jayctoy I thought they are made from Greece. They sound terrific.

They have distributors - however each time my friends gear needed repair he had to send it back to headquarters near Mexico City, Ciudad de México, Mexico.

Note: I felt bad about the whole deal as my friend came with me to a show, kept going back to their room, they had some gear for sale there, they plugged it all in at the show, played it quickly, and he bought the gear there for 20 min max. Bought it.   Then spent the next 2-3yrs shipping back and forth [more costs, long delays] trying to make it operate properly, and finally gave up.  In this case, the local in-state distributor was useless to fix anything. The failing unit had to go all the way back to headquarters.

This is why I like simple gear, with local (capable support) and/or where most local techs can figure stuff out.  Sounds great when it works properly. Best of Luck.
