Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it is Environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE to leave your equipment on for long periods of time, before or after, or truly despicable, ON all the time!

On, 20 mins, listen, done, off!

Doctors, Lawyers, Trust Fund Kiddos, come on now.

Where were you in 1970?, I was there in Manhattan (went to college at Pratt in Brooklyn 1966-1970)

@parkergetdean That is disappointing to say the least. Mountain biking is way safer; injuries are almost always self-inflicted.

Here in Davis (the town symbol is the penny-farthing..calling Patrick Mcgoohan In "The Prisoner" ..... alas not) we have loads of bike paths, bike lanes and bike rotary's. Really. Yes sir re Bobby.

Lately scooters and electric bikes (that are motor cycles to me) are all over the blinkity blank place and on the paths. It's a problem. They are fast. Too fast. It’s light’s out when they hit you. Are the “riders” sometimes texting? Yah sure you betcha.

How does this tie in with responsible conservation Uncle @elliottbnewcombjr  Earth Day post hoping for us all with our beloved sound bath set ups to save a few kilowatts and better love our mother? It's related because these are not cars but are used for transportation and pollute less.

Dear Diary My amps are now warmed up. Gotta go. More woolgatherings later.

Short-time Lurker-   You all crack me up.  I’m so glad I joined this forum.  Mostly good natured comments with the occasional well thought out but not mean snark.  Entertaining and educational.  What more could a guy want.

I have never left my equipment on before.  But thanks to this post, I've investigated and found out how much better the sound quality is and how it can improve longevity on some equipment.  I'm sold !  Leaving it on .  Thanks for posting.

@elk2023

I’m so glad to hear that.

I’ve been active on DPReview since 2012, here only since 2019, and the tone of every forum I visit is different: Sony; Olympus; Panasonic; Open Talk; Beginners, and here, primarily Analog.

Sony is by far the friendliest, most helpful, and posting images and sharing personal info on DPR is wide open on that site. I made and have several good friends, we visit each others homes, plan photo trips together. There were a few difficult people on Sony forum at 1st, and a few who made the mistake of responding to them, but happily they dropped by the wayside.

The DPR site was going to close, at the last minute revived, but many had already found other sites and did not return. Some new people have yet to get my sense of humor, but I am determined to lighten up the place. New rules are more restrictive.

I’ve gotten a LOT of help and learned a LOT here.

Sadly, sharing personal info is not allowed. Despite that, I have connected with 4 members here, they all come here, we listen to each other’s lps, compare cartridges, we go to VAS together, I’m going next week to stay with one of them. A few came here to take me up on free LPs (I have too many). One new contact is coming soon, a rare bird who want’s classical.

Here I post so many images to try and lively up the place. ’All words’ gets pretty boring. I wish others would post more photos.

I've been here long enough that I'm sure for many it's "Here he goes again". But, like Cameras, I always imagine others, perhaps new members just learning, who lurk, follow a discussion, so I often answer for them as well as the OP, and off on tangents we go, for a while.

I poke the Bear sometimes.
