I want to upgrade my Turntable to something heavier

I am about to retire from work. I would like to upgrade my turntable before I do this. I have a Pro-Ject, which I like a lot, but I have two big dogs. I have been considering something 1) heavier and 2) balanced. I have SourcePoint 10 Speakers driven by a PS Audio Stellar Amp. The Stelkar also offers Balanced inputs.

I am leaning towards the Pro-Ject X8 as being a good price with room for a better cartridge. I have considered VPI, but I don't care about upgrading. Once I am retired, this is it. Ideas or Suggestions?

And everyone, I ended up with the VPI Prime Turntable & JMW-10 3D Tonearm. I am also getting the Hana ML Stylus, which should be delivered in two weeks. Waiting for a new Hana to come in.

Congrats! Great table and great cartridge! I was running ML on my VPI Prime X for several months and loved it. Upgraded to Umami Blue. If the ML is new, it starts improving after 30hrs of play time and peaks at close 100hrs. Be patient with it.

While in Koeln, there was a Transrotor dealer in town. These must have been the heaviest turntables I’d ever seen. The German engineering on these tables is mental.

I don't get why you need a heavier TT other than the obvious, For the dogs

But I get it if you are retiring soon

I made the Jump to VPI and not regretting it. choose wisely. Dr Feickert tables are great and Lastly Clear audio. I would stay away from Rega simply because it uses the principle of lightweight but rigid. I owned a fully modded P6 (new with all the bangs and whistles) and when i got the VPI super Prime, for me, the sound it presented was at another level. another brand is Kuzma.

good luck
