Almost not bearable.

Skimming through today's releases on qobuz and Tidal, saw that foo Fighters had a new record out and tapped play on qobuz.  After a 45 seconds into the first track I skipped to second thinking it was something wrong with the first but it's just as bad 😒 .

Started Tidal and it sounds better but just..

Anybody else had a listen and had a similar experience of this insane compressor abuse?

Personally I would never have let something like this leave my studio .

Tragic as it is I really like the songs and the record is after all really good 👍

They said they wanted this album to sound more like their punk roots.  There is an album by Baroness that is similarly over-brick walled that is also a fantastic album other than very challenging production.  This is where DSP or equalizers may blunt that a bit - enjoy the music where and how it is...

Horrible. At least it's in Hi-rez  24/96  so you can clearly hear how bad it is.

I'm wondering if quality recordings went the way of manual transmissions in sports cars.  They're still out there but you have to look really hard to find one.  cool
