Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it is Environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE to leave your equipment on for long periods of time, before or after, or truly despicable, ON all the time!

On, 20 mins, listen, done, off!

Doctors, Lawyers, Trust Fund Kiddos, come on now.

Where were you in 1970?, I was there in Manhattan (went to college at Pratt in Brooklyn 1966-1970)

@hilde45

For perspective, 5 largest categories of household electrical energy consumption:

Heating and Cooling (40–50%)
Water Heating (10–15%)
Appliances and Plug Loads (15–20%)
Lighting (5–10%)
Electronics and Entertainment (5–10%)

I live in SoCal near the coast so I’m already doing my part according to the above:

So for for me:

Heating and Cooling: Gas furnace, electric air-con, both rarely used
Water Heating: Gas
Appliances and Plug Loads: Not much I can do about that
Lighting:100% LED
Electronics and Entertainment: Off when not in use

Yet my electricity bill is still $300 / mth.

Go Class D! More efficient is now in fact also better.

You can still season the sound to personal preference elsewhere, if you must.  DSP is the ULTIMATE tweak.

It’s a no brainer to me these days.

10 years ago, maybe not quite as much, but still often a tough call!

I’m over tubes, though I still think they look way cool.   AGD got that one covered if it matters.

Class D even soft clips like a tube amp to boot!

The best of both worlds.

Get with the times, dinosaurs!!!!

Yabba Dabba "D".  You heard it here first. :^)

@elliottbnewcombjr -- GREAT post! A much needed (and sadly, probably not much heeded) message. And a very refreshing change from the often trivial and sometimes neurotic postings. Not to mention the occasional seriously ignorant and / or sociopathic responses. Ah well, what a piece of work is man. . . .
